July 10 will see the return of the Big Day which has become a big part of the Uckfield summer for the past 21 years.
After last year’s disappointment the dedicated team of organisers said that the summer would not the same without the annual celebration in what ever format the restrictions would allow.
So, despite uncertainty and monthly announcements from the Prime Minister, the team ploughed ahead to go ahead with just two events which are to be held outside. Two, weekends are planned for the town:
July 10 – The Big Day on Luxford Field – it will bring together local businesses, community groups, churches to the accompaniment of music. Chalk Horse Music exploring folklore, legend and landscape of our Sussex Heritage, the Imperial Male Voice Choir, Cantando the local Capella Ensemble women’s group and much more.
There will be plenty of food and drink with a bar serving local favourite Harvey’s beer as well! plus ice cream.
Sadly, it has just been announced that the Children’s procession this year will not take place due. It is hoped to return in 2022.
