The Rude Mechanical Theatre Co. (Picnics from 6.00pm)
It’s 1940 in a sleepy Sussex village. George, a retired mechanic, receives a letter from the War Office. Magpies gather, hopping on their twiggy legs. ‘What’s this?’ they cackle. Momentous changes are afoot. While above, amidst comic absurdity, a dark and menacing intrigue simmers among the birds. A brand new comedy thriller from The Rudes. Watch out for Inspector Seed, a detective pigeon!
Bring your own chairs, warm clothes, and perhaps a delicious picnic…but watch out for those greedy birds!

Bowjangles are a string quartet who can really play. They dance whilst they play. They sing whilst they play. They leap, tumble, juggle and joke whilst they play. This is their 5 star Edinburgh Fringe Festival debut On The Box! – a witty and dynamic ‘TV’ stage show, about a day in the life of a TV that’s been left switched on. These four energetic musicians parody a variety of familiar programmes, with exhilarating dance routines and rousing songs chucked in for good measure.
Meet hilarious characters such as the Despairing Newsreader, the Operatic Adulterers and the Fleet Footed Strictly Contestants, accompanied by the quartet’s flawless string playing. While their cherished violins, viola and cello serve as tennis rackets, fencing swords or merely accessories to a full Charleston routine, Bowjangles keep the action roaring and the music soaring.
