You demanded a return visit after a sellout gig at the Festival last year! Enjoy an evening of classic jazz in this iconic building as master rhythm guitarist Piers Clark joins with clarinettist Brian Hills and our very own Lou Glandfield to explore the American Jazz song book from its very roots in the 1920s. Piers Clark (Leader, guitar) is one of the best swing guitarists around. He has played with the USA’s finest including Scott Hamilton, Kenny Davern and Marty Grosz. Brian Hills (clarinet), a formidable musician who specialises in unearthing forgotten classics from old 78s, has recorded with the likes of Champion Jack Dupree. Lou Glandfield (piano) is a local bluesman (ex-Mike Westbrook, Lol Coxhill et al). Join them in the atmospheric setting of Uckfield’s historic Bridge Cottage for a lyrical and exhilarating celebration of New Orleans jazz…and beyond.
Bar available. Space is very limited in Bridge Cottage so book your tickets early.

The String Theory band have played throughout Kent, Sussex, Surrey and in Normandy. As well as the fast swing numbers and Django compositions, they include a splattering of Latin melodies, slow numbers including ballads and waltzes, some film themes, one or two classical pieces and even a nod to folk and pop. Their music is essentially “string driven swing” with a real feel-good factor.
Free – Collection to performers.

Bonnie Flitney and Mark Orchin have been members of Sussex Folk Rock band Touchstone since 1990 . They draw their musical influences from many styles and genres of music but primarily folk music.
Mark & Bonnie have been the main songwriters for Touchstone throughout their career and their original compositions have a unique twist as most songs are based around Sussex historical events, e.g. the Lewes snow avalanche, shipwrecks and so on. In 1995 the pair entered the best new artist competition at the National Folk Festival and beat all other entrants to win the contest going on to play many UK festivals both as a duo and with Touchstone. Expect a feast of Sussex flavoured songs and tunes along with many popular items in their set.
